I got my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Mathematics at the University of Pavia (Italy), after which I continued my academic career with a PhD in Mathematics at Imperial College London (UK). Following my graduate studies, I undertook different roles, both in industry and academia: I was a Machine Learning Scientist in the Advanced Analytics Department of Assicurazioni Generali, a Bioinformatician at the European Institute of Oncology and a Research Engineer at the International School for Advanced Studies. In the past few years my focus has been on applying state-of-the-art Machine Learning techniques to solve various problems in different areas of science and technology: Natural Language Processing for automated document handling, classification models for cancer detection from genomic data, Topological Data Analysis to detect phase transitions in classical and quantum systems.
