I have been working at Royal Mail since 2016, using data science to deliver innovative products and enable data-driven decision making. I have lead various projects, such as Royal Mail’s estimated parcel delivery window, delivery mail forecast, customer segmentation and various other predictive tools for our Sales and HR teams. Before working for Royal Mail I have had a career in academia.
I got awarded my PhD in Science (Evolutionary Genomics- 2012) from the University of Zurich for my work on the origin of life, followed by two Swiss and EU funded senior research fellowships at the University of Bristol, working with big data to reconstruct the early history of life.
Having worked in academia for some time, I value the positive influence academic engagement can have on the quality of our work for the business, but also on our mindset within the team.
