Enrique’s passion is to build tech companies that help solve some of the world’s most pressing problems. He is the tech co-founder of Dark Matter Ventures —a catalyser of blockchain technologies— and Geckomatics —a computer vision AI intelligence for public spaces—, an associate professor at INAOE and a member of the board of directors of the Association for Trading Agent Research (ATAR). He’s a recognised Machine Learning scholar who authored two books and over 70 papers in the intersection between machine learning, information theory and economics. In the past, his research as Director of multi-agent science at Secondmind led to new AI developments for industries (including three patent applications) on supply-chain inventory optimization and innovating to port mechanism design concepts into a data-driven world. He has advised and consulted for several VC-backed machine learning startups and scale-ups in industries such as real estate, biotech and insurtech, and has helped the UK government (the Cabinet Office in particular) program machines that can understand their natural language documents. Enrique is also an advisor to a (yet to go live) venture capital fund.
