Workshop abstract: One of the key skills for a data scientist is communication of information and in R that generally means shiny. Shiny is an R package that allows users to quickly build web interfaces to analysis without having to leave R. In this workshop we will introduce the basics of shiny and by the end of the workshop attendees will be able to create simple applications, collecting user inputs and returning R outputs.

Bio: Tatiana Kim is a Data Scientist at Mango Solutions. She specialises in providing advanced data-driven solutions in R and Python to Mango’s clients, and has delivered a number of workshops and training courses for R users of all levels. She also enjoys interactive dashboard building, particularly in Shiny. Formerly an academic researcher, Tatiana has a PhD in Mathematics.

Level of the talk: Intermediate

Prerequisites : It is assumed that attendees are comfortable using the R language. Familiarity with data manipulation packages such as dplyr and tidyr along with visualization tools such as ggplot2 would be beneficial but is not necessary.
