Peter’s BT career spanned 38 years and saw a progression to Head of Research and CTO. His 1000 strong team engaged in studies spanning optical fibre, fixed and mobile networks that supported future IP, eCommerce, eRetail, eLogistics. & also embraced Quantum Encryption, AI, Artificial Life, Cyber security, VR and AR plus mixed Human – Robot working. As a consultant and university professor of over 20 years, Peter has been employed in the defence, logistics, travel, retail, energy, healthcare, transport, pharma, and IT sectors as an advisor, board member, and manager with responsibilities for strategy and operations. He was appointed as the UK’s first Professor for the Public Understanding of Science & Technology @ Bristol (1998) and is currently a visiting Professor to Hertfordshire, Salford and Suffolk. A graduate of Nottingham Trent and Essex Universities, Peter received numerous prizes and awards including the Queen’s Award for Innovation & Export in 1990 and an OBE in 1999. His Honorary Doctorates include Essex, Robert Gordon, Stafford, Nottingham Trent and Brunel.
