The huge flows of data enabled by social media, smart phones and the internet have created a revolution in the way we interact with events around the world, especially in the arena of conflict. This environment has given us access to information which can be used for investigative journalism, conflict analysis and the identification of war crimes. This talk will examine the use of open source information in these arenas, specifically by using case studies from Syria and Ukraine.
