Ailish McMahon is a Senior Model Analyst on the Wholesale IFRS 9 & IRB Modelling team within Decision Science, Group Risk at Bank of Ireland. She monitors the performance of BoI’s wholesale IRB and IFRS 9 models, refreshes the IFRS 9 models on a half-yearly basis (recently completed in a way which incorporates the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and Brexit, as well as a revised definition of default as mandated by the regulator), responds to queries relating to the internal validation of the models, and prepares regulatory reports. Ailish led the design and implementation of BoI’s model monitoring process for wholesale PD and EAD IFRS 9 models, in line with BOI Group Standards & Guidelines developed by the Risk Measurement Team. Ailish has a passion for improving and automating processes within the team where possible to increase efficiencies. She has a degree in Mathematics and Music from University College Cork (UCC) and was awarded the UCC Quercus University Academic Scholarship for the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences in 2016.
